Day 1: The Selous Game Reserve

A short flight from Dar es Salaam brings you to the lush riverine wilderness of the Selous, and a range of tributaries, woodlands and grass plains to explore by boat, on foot or in open sided safari vehicles.

A quick driving transfer brings you to Selous Safari Camp, where you will spend your first four days enjoying the different types of safari available. The lodge is situated on the banks of a river with fantastic views of surrounding wildlife, and provides delightful accommodation in large permanent tents with private verandas where guests can relax and appreciate the superb setting. There is a refreshing swimming pool to enjoy after a hot safari and an elegant stilted restaurant from which to enjoy excellent candlelit dinners.

Day 5: Zanzibar’s Indian Ocean Beaches

In the morning fly to Zanzibar, where you will be meet and driven to Ras Nungwi on the northern most tip of Zanzibar. The beach at Ras Nungwi has a reputation for being the most beautiful beach on the island, and the hotel (also called Ras Nungwi) is situated mere feet from the sparkling ocean. Guests’ chalets are designed in a simple Swahili style with balconies from which to enjoy the sea views. Your accommodation is in a Superior Chalet. Water sports and other activities can be arranged at this resort.

In the morning return to Stone Town, to stay at the charismatic and fabulous Zanzibar coffee house.

These days are left free to explore the fascinating Stone Town of Zanzibar, and perhaps take one of the exciting excursions on offer – visit Prison Island to see the ruins and the giant sea turtles, explore nearby spice plantations, or explore the narrow streets of the town to see Livingstone’s house and the old Slave Market. Perhaps take a trip to Jozani forest to see the orchids and indigenous red colobus monkeys. Overnight at the Zanzibar coffee house on a b&b basis.

Day 13: Zanzibar’s Stone Town

Day 14: Zanzibar’s Stone Town

Day 15: After breafast transfer to the airport or sea port.
